My Students

I have a wonderful class of second graders in Oregon! They are sweet, caring, and full of life! They love learning and truly enjoy taking in new information. I teach in a high-poverty area, where over 75% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch.

My students come from a variety of different economic and cultural backgrounds.

My students speak many different languages, have various interests, and have diverse learning styles. We are a community in our classroom, working together and supporting each other every day.

My Project

I am requesting various multicultural books for my classroom library. I am trying to build a collection of books that show different cultures, languages, and lifestyles. I've chosen various books such as "I Love My Hair!", "I'm Like You, You're Like Me", "Happy in Our Skin", and "Goldy Luck and the Three Pandas".

My students need books with characters who look like they do.

They want to read books with characters who have similar lifestyles to theirs. These books will provide my students with a larger variety of books to choose from during independent reading time. I've also chosen some books that I can use as read alouds with my students to teach social skills and acceptance of everyone.
