My Students
Flushing is a vibrant community, with a growing population. But many of our students are new to the country and begin their education at a disadvantage. They need all the help they can get, and I'm happy to ask for it on their behalf.
The struggle to learn in a new environment, and with a new language -one that their parents often don't speak- is very challenging.
But our students don't shy away from such challenges, nor does our staff.
We have a supportive administration, knowledgeable teachers, caring parents and eager students. But budgets and incomes being what they are, we sometimes don't have all the supplies or tools needed to make the best impact we can. Please help us make a difference by donating today. Thank you.
My Project
The best way to become a better reader is to read more. I am constantly encouraging my students to read more. Some students are eager, some are resistant. But they all tell me the same thing: "You need new books."
There is no substitute for books in the classroom.
Many students have few books at home, and turn to the school for resources. I am requesting Grade 5 Classic Grade Level Library for my students to read in class. I hope you will help me provide them with those resources. Having fresh new books that the kids are excited to read may be the turning point; as they begin to look at books not as work, but rather, as fun.
