My Students

Diversity is one of our greatest strengths! The students in my class hail from a wide variety of backgrounds, and possess a variety of learning styles, and talents. Their interests are as wide and diverse as their languages. 61% receive free or reduced- fee lunch.

We're a Magnet School, and students love learning Math, Science, Engineering and Technology, however, Reading is almost always their first love.

The students are curious, enthusiastic learners who love hands-on, minds-on activities.

In the past years, our students have shown terrific growth in Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening skills as a result of access to materials on their "just right" reading levels.

My Project

These books are great for kids because they are high interest. Many of my students are developing readers, and the correct support will allow them to practice on their own, get comfortable and improve. As they progress, they will be able to read more challenging books independently. This also helps them discuss books and build their oral skills. These skills are all connected... Reading, Speaking, and Listening.

Students will be able to take the books home and develop reading habits both at home and school.

This will enhance the environment not oly in the classroom, but on the playground as well. Many of my students have English and their second language. As their reading levels and comprehension improves, their speaking skills improve, and their confidence grows! Please help them read, improve, and succeed all year long with great books!
