My Students
This year I have challenged my students to read 40 books. They are ready for the challenge but our classroom library needs more books!
My fourth graders come from all over Chicago and are energized about learning.
I am very lucky to have "looped" with these students, which means I also taught them in third grade. In addition to all of the traditional academic subjects my students take a foreign language every day!
My Project
As part of the 40 book challenge my students will be asked to read books of certain genres. For poetry I know they will enjoy Karen Hesse's "Out of the Dust", a book about the Dust Bowl written in poetry. To conquer the historical fiction part of the challenge my students will love to read a book from the Time Warp Trio series.
My goal as a teacher is to create a long lasting love of reading in my students.
They are excited to read 40 (or more!) books this year. With your help and generosity they will have an even better selection of books to choose from!
