This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Please help us learn to read! With Common Core standards being newer to our state, it has been hard to gather enough of the right reading materials to help students meet these new standards. These books will do the trick, as many of them are Common Core Exemplar Books.

I teach an amazing group of first graders!

They are very hands-on and inquisitive. They are constantly asking me questions about what things are, how they work, what something means, etc. They definitely keep me on my toes! They are interested in learning and reading specifically! I am excited to help them reach their potential this year, but need help with reading materials that fit with the new Common Core standards.

My Project

These 26 books will help my students learn to read in an interesting, imaginative, and fun way. The books are examples of good fiction and non-fiction literature which help teach Common Core language arts standards. Some of the books are teacher read aloud books, while others the students will be able to read for themselves. My students will be able to interact with the text and pictures in a way that's both creative and educational.

First grade is such an important year for students.

Learning to read is tops on the list of the important things children will do this school year. Please help us meet the new standards for reading in an exciting and interesting way by helping us get this set of books!
