My Students

My students are full of excitement about third grade and being in school! They are sweet and ready to learn new things every day.

Our school has a moderate poverty level; about 40% of our students receive a free or reduced-price lunch.

We are building a love of reading in third grade and need a diverse book supply to meet the needs of my students.

My goal is to establish a reading community in my classroom that appeals to all students, no matter their reading level.

My Project

These materials will greatly impact my students learning. Not all students read on a third-grade level and it is difficult to purchase resources to meet the needs of all those diverse readers. Struggling readers tend to shut down when there are not the same resources available to them in the classroom. These resources will be used to help struggling readers form a love of reading and continue to stay engaged in the classroom. These books will be used in small group lessons and for students to use during independent reading time. Students will also be able to check them out and take them home for nightly reading.
