My Students

My new kindergarten students have such young, vibrant minds. They come in every morning, excited for all the learning they will do that day. One of our biggest challenges is having enough books to put in front of them. They truly love books and learning and we need more books to help support this!

In my classroom, there are 26 of the most energetic and knowledge-thirsty students.

They are caring, loving, and hard-working. They come to school each day with a big smile on their faces, spreading happiness to all those around them. The school itself is in a high poverty area in the nation's capital. It is a part of the highest performing network of charter schools in DC where students always come first!

My Project

This project is all about putting books in front of students! It is a classroom goal to inspire a love of reading at the youngest ages. We want to expose our students to all types of books in order to build a foundation for their future. We have a very small leveled library in our classroom right now. We will be adding these books to help round out this library. These are the books that our students will be reading when they have their independent reading rotation each day. They will also be reading these books when they have the freedom to choose which station they would like to visit. We have set up a comfortable and inviting space where students can go to select and read these awesome books!

Donations to this project will directly impact our students.

Many of our students don't have access to the books that we want to put in front of them. Every child deserves the highest quality of education, and these books will help our students get that. They will be learning not only to read the words on the pages, but also to fall in love with characters and stories. They will be absorbing real information from non-fiction books while they learn all about non-fiction text features!
