Hello everyone! This year I have the honor to be the First grade teacher of 28 kind, sweet and hard working students. The majority of my class are ELL students and speak more than one language, being bilingual is a beautiful thing. We are a

My students come to school eager and excited to learn something new everyday.

For many of them, this is their first experience in a school setting. They all have very different needs in reading, writing and math. Some of them know how to read but many of them are struggling with reading.

My Project

These books will be helpful for my students that are learning how to read. There is nothing like reading and holding a physical book for students to be engaged and interested in reading. Unfortunately, we don't have enough books for students who are reading below grade level. I want to make sure that all my students that are learning how to read have books that are interesting and engaging for them.

Many of these books provide wonderful visuals and are easy for my beginner readers to understand and decode.

In addition, we will use the bins to organize our library. These books will help my students to decode, use the pictures, and really focus on the skills that they need in order to learn how to read. We will use the laminator and laminating sheets to laminate our labels for our library. We will use the dry erase pockets for students to practice sight words, blends and digraphs and other phonetic skills that can help them to learn how to read. The decoding flashcards will be very helpful for students to learn how to decode words.
