Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

When you enter the door to our kindergarten class, you will see twenty boys and girls playing and working with manipulatives ranging from counting counters, letter blocks, a magnifying glass, etc. Though my students come from different backgrounds and nationalities, they all learn through play and hands-on experiences. Many of them speak Spanish as a first language.

They yearn to connect and learn from one another.

My students come to kindergarten with a range of prior knowledge, however, I differentiate instruction to cater to all their needs. They are full of energy, and they learn best from moving and acting out.

My Project

At the elementary level, students are still molding and changing based on their experiences and exposure in life. Children will look at the adults in their life for examples of what is acceptable, however books are also a powerful resource that can teach lessons.

I want to teach my students how to be giving, kind, strong and intelligent individuals.

These requested books are a fun and entertaining way to teach my students the importance of doing the right thing and being a good person. The books will lead to discussions and writing activities about character traits. The bookshelves will be used to display the books around the classroom. The world can use more kindness and love, I hope these books will instill this in my students everyday!
