I teach in one of the fastest growing areas of South Carolina. More specifically, I teach first grade at one of the brand new schools that opened in our district this year! My 23 fantastic group of first graders have started off the school year with excitement and wonder as to what it will hold. I share these feelings, but always am on the lookout for ways to better the education that I provide for them.

New schools mean bright and shiny walls and floors; many procedural items to work through; and meeting many new faces. Unfortunately, it also means a lack of supplies. Transitioning to a new building means leaving storage units and materials behind. I am very fortunate to have collected a plethora of rich literature for my students to read, but now I find myself unable to make them available.

Our classroom is jam packed with desks, chairs, and materials. But what is most important, those children's books, are just not accessible by the children. I am in great need of this book shelf unit to not only display books of choice to the students, but to have a way for them to access them!! This shelf unit sits on the floor and is their height. Perfect for them to be able to browse and select a book that is just right for them.

Reading is one of the most important skills I will teach these 6 year-old students how to do this year. With your help, this endeavor will be so much more successful! By providing this shelf and display unit, you will be making reading easier and more fun for my students! Don't let my books go to waste!! Help me get them in the hands of these children...they are our future.
