This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are growing their reading abilities and developing their love of books. We have several students in second grade who are learning to read at a kindergarten or first grade level. We are in need of books at their level for them to practice their new skills.
Children will read more when they have books at their ability level that spike their curiosity.
Students who are not yet at grade level require high interest, low level books to practice their reading skills. My goal for these book bundles is to have a variety of books at lower levels so that all of my students can engage in books.
My second graders love to read and share what they have read. They love to talk with their friends and peers. These books will give all of my students the opportunities to engage with engrossing books so they can all share with each other. Our school is located on the outskirts of town and surrounded by orchards and vineyards. It gives us a unique mix of students with different socioeconomic backgrounds and cultures.
