Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

First of all, my 2nd graders are amazing! They are so happy to be in school! Every morning, during Social Emotional Learning all I hear over and over is how happy they are that day because they are in school...or how sad they are that there is no school the next day because it is the weekend! I take my role in these students' lives seriously...this year more than any other. We are a Title 1 school and my class is an ENL and Related Special Education Services classroom. My range of students is Kindergarten through grade 2. I have students new to the country...students that have not been is school at all...and students that attended school once or twice per week over the last year and a half. My students are also multicultural...and I want to celebrate that fact! I want them to jump into this year with a love of reading...and with the ability to see their faces...their experiences...and their lives in the books that we celebrate together.

My Project

These books will be used for read alouds as well as individual student reading baggies that go home every night! My students jump excitedly to choose new books for their baggies...they can barely contain their excitement sharing what they are reading! These new books would be such an amazing celebration of our love of reading...as well as a tremendous support to our individual student reading campaign...100 books each!! They are thrilled! And the Read Alouds would be amazing in support of our class 100 book campaign! Please help us reach our goals!
