Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

April is Autism Awareness Month. I have a t-shirt that has as giraffe and it says, "It's ok to be different- Autism Awareness Month." I also have a poster of Sammy the Seahorse who is the national spokes animal for Autism Awareness Month.

The books in this project showcase giraffes and seahorses which are perfect tie ins to promote Autism Awareness Month.

The books in this project will be given away to students. My students will pick a book and take the book home to share it with their family. The book they pick is a gift for them to keep. I can imagine my students going home and telling their parents, "Look at this book, it's so cool!"

The books in my project include books of giraffes that have a finger puppet. Wiggle your finger and read the book! The Seahorses (Amazing Animals) book has breathtaking photographs of seahorses and interesting fact about seahorses. This project also includes Seahorse Coloring Books. The Seahorse Coloring Book is really cool! The National Geographic Book showcases animals that live in the jungle and has stickers to create animal habitat scenes. The Klutz Kits have a book and instructions to make a fun craft project.

I am really excited about this project because it helps me promote Autism Awareness Month and inspire my students’ interest in science, ecology and wild life preservation.
