My Project
My classroom is an extremely diverse classroom. This year, in my class of 19 students, there are at least six different languages spoken in their homes. My students come from a variety of religious backgrounds and traditions. Many of my students, if not immigrants themselves, have parents who are immigrants.
I would like to expand my classroom library to reflect my students' families, and to help all of my students understand the multitude of languages, traditions, and experiences of their classmates.
I am also looking to replace some of our classroom materials which have worn out over the years with more durable wooden materials, which will hopefully be more environmentally friendly and also allow the students to work with some natural materials. The building area and kitchen area are two of the most popular areas in the classroom, and I would like to work on having quality materials in those areas.
Having said that, we go through a LOT of watercolors and playdoh, even though the students are about as responsible as you can expect four and five years old to be; they just really enjoy creating art, so, a mid year replacement/resupply would really help them to continue to create.
