Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

As we begin the school year we are in need of some new educational resources in my classroom such as books, math manipulaties and social emotional learning activities. Many of my students also have some significant sensory needs and would greatly benefit from things such as weighted blankets and headphones to allow them to self-regulate and spend as much time in class with their general education peers as possible. These resources will greatly enrich our learning and and allow my students to maximize their growth and learning this school year.

Having culturally relevant and engaging books and math materials will allow my students to truly embrace and enjoy their learning through being able to explore new ideas and concepts in fun, interactive ways.

School often presents many challenges to special education students and with access to materials and academic supports at their skill level many of those challenges can be greatly minimized. This in addition to the sensory tools allow my students the space and opportunity to engage and truly find joy in their learning.
