My Students

My students are amazing 2nd graders who always want to move up reading levels! Though their interests and abilities vary, they all love to choose engaging books to read. To this end, I have tried to create a classroom library with varied texts. As my readers make progress, I need to add more books.

My students are inquisitive and fascinated by any new knowledge they gain.

There are plenty of gasps and sounds of disbelief when they hear a new fact. Every day, there are also plenty of questions asked, many of which stump me. Expanding their--and my own--knowledge is a must!

My Project

In order to develop a passion for reading, students need a variety of engaging texts of different genres. They also need to be aware of things happening not only in their communities but also in the world. These books and magazine subscription will help them become voracious readers who find interest in current events.

These magazines will build my students' background knowledge to help them better comprehend the books they read.

Furthermore, they will use the magazines and books as examples of writing as well as fodder for rich discussions in and out of the classroom. Colorful photographs and texts with relatable characters will truly bring reading to life for my 2nd graders!
