My Students

I am a school counselor for students in grades K-5. My scholars are challenged daily to take risks, learn through our mistakes, support one another as learners, and build our confidence as we learn new skills. I work in each classroom to teach socio-emotional skills, help scholars learn to regulate emotions, and counsel scholars who may need additional support. I also hold individual and small-group sessions with scholars to help them meet individual goals.

My Project

As a school counselor, I teach scholars how to regulate emotions, respond to stressors, manage stressful situations, and make responsible decisions. In addition, we work in-depth on how to build relationships with others and communicate with others in healthy, polite, and productive ways. I work with whole classrooms on socio-emotional skills, and with individual scholars and small groups to help meet specific goals.

Building socio-emotional skills takes daily practice.

The tools provided in this project will help reinforce each of the socio-emotional skills we practice daily.

Each book in this project was selected to meet the socio-emotional needs of one or more scholars I serve. The "Little Spot" boxed sets teach and reinforce specific skills such as perseverance, kindness, patience, anxiety, and confidence. The other books are colorful, fun picture books that also reinforce these skills.

The flashcards will help scholars learn to recognize emotions, connect emotions and feelings with appropriate responses, and role-play social situations.

Finally, the UNO set will be used to help students practice appropriate play and can also be used as a reward for students who are meeting goals.
