My Project

Hi there! I am a library media specialist at a Title 1 school and I have the privilege of teaching over 400 students each week! These students span grades Pre-K - 5th grade, and they absolutely love coming to the media center each week to check out books and read. Over the last few years, I have been slowly but surely developing a cozy "reading corner" where students can go and read books after check out, during break times, or even when a student needs to calm down and emotionally regulate.

If you donated to this project, you will be helping add cozy seating to our school's library media center, which would positively impact over 400 students every week!

We currently have one chair like the ones linked in this project, and honestly - students are often arguing over who gets to sit in that chair. They have learned to share and take turns, but honestly I can't blame their frustrations! I have classes of over 20 students and I only have one cozy chair in the reading corner.

If you donated to this project, the students at my school would be gaining comfortable seating to use as they read and grow to love reading more and more!

As far as the greenery wall decals go, we have decorated half of the ceiling at the front of the media center with decals; however, I would love to complete the wall with this decor.

Lastly, the books would be used during my lessons. Pete the Cat is a popular book series so having a set of paper back books would allow me to use this set for my lessons and keep the other books on the library shelves, making them available for students to check out!
