Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These books will enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. All of these books have been chosen with diversity in mind. I have chosen books I can read to them while teaching them about diversity, culture, and acceptance. They feature characters from various racial and cultural backgrounds, exposing my students to different perspectives and ways of life. This broadens their understanding and appreciation of diversity.

By integrating books that address racial justice and representation into the curriculum, I can create a more inclusive, empathetic, and socially aware classroom environment.

Books that portray characters in multifaceted and complex ways help challenge and break down racial stereotypes. This promotes a more nuanced understanding of people from different racial backgrounds. Reading stories about characters from different racial backgrounds helps students develop empathy.

Along with the diversity, I have also chosen some books for SEL and Growth Mindset. These will help students identify and name their emotions, fostering emotional literacy.

A crayon sharpener is a simple yet effective tool that will enhance the learning environment, promote better work habits, and support the creative and academic development of my students. The markers will be used for creating anchor charts and jotting down my students' ideas as we discuss, and pencils for them to write on their own.

I am hoping that the funding of this project will encourage my students to create art or write stories inspired by the books they read. My goal is that the Little Spot and Magical Yet will boosts self-esteem and help students recognize their strengths and abilities.
