My third grade students love to read. Independent reading with books of their own choosing from our classroom library is a favorite time of the day. Our classroom library has grown to include more current and diverse book titles. However, one area of our classroom library that needs continued growth is our audio books collection. My goal for this project is to update our classroom library with more audio books.
Audio books have been shown to positively impact reading fluency and interest in reading.
A new collection of high-interest audio books for our classroom library would provide materials to students of different reading abilities and interests and help create positive reading experiences for all students. I am particularly excited to add three books with Native American main characters: Rez Dogs, I Can Make This Promise, and The Sea in Winter.
