This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Holidays, holiday traditions, and special celebrations are important for our students. Children's books about holidays and celebrations serve not only to strengthen community bonds and help young children understand their own family traditions and beliefs, but also to learn about other cultures. The students will see that even when there are differences, distinctive celebrations have lots of similarities. Indeed most focus on food, family, love, and honoring the past.
Our students are naturally excited about holidays and celebrations, so this is a perfect opportunity to get excited about curling up with a good book and learning about all kinds of festivities!
Books such as How Do Dinosaurs Say Trick or Treat? and Amy Wu and the Lantern Festival will help them do just that!
