This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students are working on their final project of the year - creating a Bird Book about local California birds and their habitats. In order to take advantage of students' natural interest in animal life, we have been going on weekly field trips to learn and understand how people observe and research birds and their behaviors. They are learning how and why birds have adapted, how birds behave, what they have in common, and what makes a good habitat for birds.

These books give students the opportunity to connect their observations to text and make up the library that students will use to learn more about birds and prepare for making their own bird books.
