My Students

I am a 4th-grade teacher in West Hills, CA to an exceptional bunch of students. My class comes to school excited to learn and they openly accept the challenges of our day!

Our classroom is full of curiosity and discovery, much of which is fostered through books, discussion, and literacy centers.

Fourth grade is a year of self-exploration, individual growth, and lots of change. It is in 4th grade that students learn the foundation for a lifetime and the skills necessary to navigate the world around them.

My Project

In 4th grade, books are one of our main resources in exploring the world around us--books offer guidance and insight into the struggles/accomplishments of both fictional and non-fictional characters.

By using these sets of books in a Book Club format, the students will build their love of reading and their ability to find dialogue with a text.

When a child has a choice in the books that they read, based on their interests and individual reading level, they have the opportunity to grow as a reader. My goal is to help spread the passion for reading while working in a small group to build connections, ask questions, and gather insight from my students.
