My Project

This year, in our classroom we are bringing back student-run BOOK CLUBS! We are so excited to work on literacy with our students. They are so bright spirited, and as new 3rd graders they are becoming more witty, emotionally mature, and hardworking.

Our incoming 3rd graders are reading at the very early childhood levels and are still working toward sounding out letters and short words because of COVID-19 learning loss; My struggling readers will find the graphic novels and picture chapter books donated from this project less intimidating.

They need to read books that interest them! They are young little people who have hobbies and personalities, and we want our classroom library to reflect that with books they will actually be excited to read. I spent hours filtering through on-level books for them that also have diverse, inspiring stories that my students will relate to and look forward to reading. They are preparing for their very first state test this year and I hope that with your help, these book clubs will dramatically boost their comprehension and fluency skills!
