Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a second grade, ICT teacher in a high-need area of New York City.

This is my second year teaching in an elementary school that focuses on creating leaders in the community.

Our school is in an area where all students receive free lunch and cannot afford to bring in new supplies at the beginning of the year. My students want to learn, but need help with their concentration. I have eleven special education students that could benefit from these books. Many of my students have ADHD and have difficulty focusing during independent and group work. My students are such hard workers, but need these resources to complete classwork during the year.

My Project

My third grade students are very low this year in reading due to the pandemic. When they should be many levels higher, some are only at A and B level. I have never had students this low before. So, our library is not equipped for these readers. Please help me give my students level A and level B books to help them become better readers.

A book is a gift you can open again and again.

With your help we will be able to move these lower level readers to grade level. Please help!
