Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach a 5th grade inclusion class in an urban charter school. I have 19 fabulous students who are eager to read all the time.

My school community has been hard hit by foreclosures. My students are eager to learn, and need more books, plain and simple.

I need series books at reading and interest levels that my students can access and dig into. Research shows that students who read more books develop better vocabulary and fluency skills, which, in turn, leads to increased reading volume, which leads to greater motivation to read more. Kids get better at reading by reading more.

Your donation will make it possible for me to bring more books into my classroom, to keep my students reading.The more my students read, the better positioned they will be to go further with their education.
