My Project

One of the best things I can do for the children in my classroom is to read to them and one of my favorite authors is Kate DiCamillo.

Scientific studies show that reading aloud to children help develop their comprehension, language development, engagement and a life long love of reading.

I plan on using these three book sets to show how authors use struggle and perseverance in their stories and how stories can help us in our own lives.

These three books, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, The Tale of Despereaux and the Beatryce Prophesy show characters who must overcome obstacles. The Beatryce Prophesy is particularly good in showing the importance of learning to write because in the story, only boys know how to write. These stories are timeless, well written and have wonderful vocabulary!
