About My Students

I love it when my students get excited about reading. The other day my student George asked, "Ms. Z when are you going to get more books for your library?" Then Alan said, "Yeah, order books that we like to read, like the Diary of a Wimpy Kid or Big Nate books."

My students know that they need to be reading at home each night and in school when they finish their classwork. However, the books my students want to read aren't always available in our school library. Therefore, I want to order books for my classroom library so that my students can use them.

Reading helps students excel in all subject areas. Reading books that are of interest to the students will keep them reading throughout their lifetime. Being able to read fluently will allow my students to flourish in high school, college, and in the work place.

In Their Own Words

My name is George, and I want to read more books about dragons. The Dragonblood books are my favorite, but they're always checked out in our school library. If Ms. Z gets them for her library, I'll be able to read them.

Chris told Ms. Z that he would organize her library for her once we get the new books. I will organize by the author or series, like the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. I'll also make sure the books are kept neat in the bookcase.

David thinks that it's important to have good books to read. That's why we want Ms. Z to order these books. We told her which ones we wanted. When we get them, we'll read them and then take a quiz on them for points which will make our grade in class go up.
