This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are in need of access to real picture books to help support their special education goals. In special ed, we don't often get texts for kids to read that are at their level and engaging enough to motivate them to read. These students are the ones who need resources the most. With your help, my students would have fun books that they can practice reading about nonfiction topics, such as space or simple stories with CVC words like the short vowel readers.

Struggling readers often are forced to read boring, repetitive paper books because they are at their academic level, but in turn, as less motivating.

They don't get exposed to fun characters or even colorful pictures. These book sets would give all my kids books that we can read again and again.
