Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As students enter 2nd grade they are just beginning their journey into reading. Finding books that they can really sink their teeth into is imperative to these new readers. I want to ensure that our classroom library is well stocked with the books new readers love!

Once a child finds a series that interests them, they’ll immediately want to read all of the books in that series.

Comprehension is improved as students get to know characters more deeply, and make connections across the books in a series. There is an element of predictability in a series of books, and this can help boost a young reader’s confidence as they know what to expect from a story. The books I’ve chosen will introduce my students to new characters, expand the series I already have in my classroom, and enable them to learn about the world around them.
