Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year I am proud to be the team leader at my school. This means the world to me as this was my elementary school. As their coach/leader, I can experience so many of the different learning environments.

Seeing so many of my students every morning with the eagerness to learn has shown me that this has been the best professional decision I have made in my career.

I know that this year will be one for the record books not only for all the students and teachers but for me as well because we will work together as a village to make magic once again this year.

Our school is located in a low-economic neighborhood where about 90% of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Many come from broken homes that have been separated because of their dream to come to the United States or because of natural disasters. Some of the students in my school suffer from Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD), are ESL students (English as a Second Language), and/or have other types of special needs. Regardless of their challenges, though, the majority of the students are very determined and eager to succeed.

My Project

Our school Media Center is currently disorganized and cluttered. It is difficult to find books and many students don't want to spend the time searching through all of the shelves.

My hope, with these supplies, is to create a welcoming reading nooks and media center that students want to visit.

The bookshelf book holders will allow me to display book by genre and levels. The label maker machine will allow to create labels that will help students see the level of the books. This will also (hopefully) help students keep the book nooks and library shelves organized.

Ink and Cricut accessories will be used to continue refreshing the media center with motivational and encouraging posters in order to promote reading.
