Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a diverse range of students in a less traditional setting than what one imagines for public schools in Texas. My students are online learners who are looking for an educational structure that allows them to work at their own pace while still receiving the support they need to meet their diverse needs.

My Project

I am requesting books with diverse characters and high interest stories. Diverse characters will help students engage and see themselves in the reading as well as allow them to see inside the lives of characters unlike themselves.

With students learning remotely, it is extremely important that I am able to get good books in the hands of my young readers; The diverse titles and characters will help me keep my students engaged in reading even though they are learning virtually.

These books will aid in helping my students become passionate readers and change makers. Having diverse options to choose from allows me to connect with interests of a wide range of students.
