My Students

My students love to read! We have a large classroom library with a wide range of levels represented for individual reading. Students are able to pick books from multiple genres and are even able to share and recommend books for their classmates.

My students are creative, considerate, and intelligent!

Our school is an arts-integrated school. That means that my students learn through drama, dance, visual arts, poetry, and other hands-on modes. Our main strategies enable students to learn through cooperation and working together.

My Project

While we have a lot of books, we do not have multiple copies of classics. My class needs three Read-Along book sets, Levels O-Y, for student-led book clubs. Student groups would be able to choose which book they want to read and would have the CD as a resource to listen along. Listening to reading helps lower-achieving readers in the group be able to participate. I also like to have students read the chapter on their own first, then listen to it together. This gives multiple opportunities to interact with the text and helps activate both visual and auditory learners.

My classroom will be a better place with these book sets because my students will be better readers.

They will also strengthen their communication skills while discussing the book with their group.
