Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our class is one of the best on campus!

Our students are dedicated, hard-working young adults who strive to do their best in class on a daily basis!

Most students at our school come from a low socio-economic background, which makes it difficult for some of them to have what is needed in class. About 90% of our students are on reduced lunch at school. This doesn't stop our students from giving their best in class. They are able to look passed their disadvantages and continue to be hard-workers!

My Project

Most students in my second-grade classroom are not reading at grade level. We have our early emerging readers and our fluent readers all in one. In our small groups, we try different strategies groups, guided reading, and now we have added book clubs!

Book clubs help our fluent readers push a little farther in what they can learn from reading a chapter book, or what they can ask to answer their own questions.

As a new primary teacher, I do not have access to multiple copies of books to create a set for our book clubs. These books for our book clubs will definitely have students engaged and ready to learn!
