Help me give my students a place for them and their 5th grade buddies a chapter book to read together and a place to meet when it is their book club day.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We have partnered with fifth grade buddies this year. Our goal is to build the confidence of our struggling 5th grade readers by pairing them with a 3rd grader to enjoy reading. They read together and do activities related to the text. So far we have made do with books we currently own, but by getting a class set of Charolette's Web, the students can all read the same story and beable to work on group projects together. Having the round desk space will help ensure that the students have a specific meeting place when they read, discuss, and do projects around Charolette's Web. This partnership has not only helped the students' fluency skills increase, it has also created a bond between the grade levels that is magical to watch.
