My Students

My students attend a small school in West Virginia. We are a Title I school and are located in a low socioeconomic town. Our students walk through the door every day eager to learn and willing to embrace new experiences.

I want my students to feel empowered to become lifelong learners that can face any challenge that may come their way.

Many come from broken homes and the drug epidemic is high in our area, but our students are continually trying to rise above. They are filled with passion and hope. Our motto is to believe in ourselves, and with that belief, anything is possible.

Nelson Mandela once said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." Our staff and our students work hard to make that a reality.

My Project

My students are naturally curious about so many topics. These picture books will help them explore the world around us through many different lenses.

Picture books help students explore many topics and generate a love for reading.

We use these books throughout the day for reading comprehension, mentor sentences in grammar, social studies concepts, science, and so much more. With picture books, my students can begin to explore complex concepts on a relatable level.

My students are naturally drawn to picture books. They will help promote reading to all readers, regardless of their reading level. Books truly are the gateway to so many possibilities for my students.
