My Students

My students are from a lower socio-economic area that is 100% free lunch. My class specifically is composed of some English language learners who are making great gains in developing their vocabulary and their reading and writing. They are excited about all our different subjects and love to learn!

I would like to provide my students with books that will engage them in both reading and writing.

Being new to 4th grade, I want to develop a classroom library for my students that they will love to return to again and again!

My Project

There is so much great literature out there for kids -- I want my students to have access to as much as possible! I want them to enjoy different genres and realize that there is ALWAYS a book for them that they will love. I also want to do literature circles with my class and multiple copies of books will be needed so some students are able to read the same book, at the same time. They can meet and discuss the book they are reading and learn from each other as well. In short, I want a classroom filled to the brim with books for my students who love reading!
