Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
I have twenty-five amazing 4th grade students in my class who come to school eager to learn and challenge their thinking every day. Our school consists of children from a variety of different countries and cultures. I have students from India, Mexico, Vietnam, Ethiopia, El Salvador, and Honduras. Many of our students and parents are newcomers to America and are eager to learn English. My students end up being teachers for their parents and are often translating and teaching them what they are learning at school. Our students are happy and are working hard to embrace their new culture as well as maintain their own identities and cultures. Our school consists of 80% of our students qualifying for free and reduced-price lunch. However, we want to show them that poverty is not a deterrent to their learning capabilities.
My Project
My students love to pick out a variety of books in my classroom to read independently.
Durable book bins will allow students to have easy access to their leveled readers.
Students will create independent book bags that will need a durable place store them. Students will also store notebooks, reading/writing folders and writing materials.
My young students love to read. They enjoy going to pick out their own book. The book bins will make it easier for them to pick books that are right at their reading level!
Durable book bins will allow students to have easy access to their leveled readers. Students will be able to organize their books and have an easy view of their library, which makes browsing simpler. These book bins will definitely help to simplify and aid in the book shopping experience for my students!
