My Kindergarten class consist of 24 students that are energetic, creative, enthusiastic, and have a love for learning . We are a class that comes with different challenges and different backgrounds. Our class represents three different languages, but we do not let that interfere with our love of reading.
The students have a big goal that they ALL want to achieve by the end of kindergarten and that goal is to learn how to read.
The students agreed that they wanted to be the ones to read to their parents or to a friend instead of someone always reading to them. So in order to that the students have been working on their letter identification and letter sounds. They understand that letters put together make words and words put together can create sentences . With lots of practice with these skills as well as other skills my class is ready to start reading simple books.
My Project
Reading books is the number one goal for our class. Kindergarteners love books and need a way to find them easily! By having these book baskets, my students will be able to look for books that interest them. The baskets will help students see the books and keep them organized by subject.
Putting books in children's hands is so important to help them become lifelong readers!
Being able to see the cover of the book helps them decide if they want to read that book. Using these baskets will help my students reach their goal of learning to read by the end of the school year.
