This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
We are a hard to serve school where 93% of students are free and reduced lunches on top of already provided daily breakfast and afternoon snacks.
Our students are of high academic needs with limited resources available to teachers unless they are purchased out of pocket.
We have high behavior and academic needs from grades K-5, are 72.9% African American, 18% Hispanic and 4.2% Caucasian.
Students are incredibly hard working, strong, smart and dedicated to being successful. Attendance levels are high and I couldn't be more proud of my 2nd grade classrooms!
These bags will help students to keep track of their materials easily without confusing their books for another students. This will also hold students accountable to be responsible for making sure they move their bags when necessary from class to class as well as helping students keep their desks clean and free of clutter!
As second grade students are practicing responsibility, taking care of their own items and staying organized, these book seat bags will help every student no matter their age or ability levels to always have their materials ready and prepared.
We need these in order to better keep our materials neat and orderly so we are always prepared to learn!
