My Students

Walking into my school each day is an opportunity to bring together a group of diverse children. In my classroom I strive to create a warm environment where each student has what he needs, no matter their family's socio-economic situation.

I met my incoming class at the end of the last school year, and it is full of bright, eager students who love to read!

I would love to help them start the year with just the right thing for their books.

My Project

Second grade is a pivotal year for many students, especially in reading. It is a year that can determine a reader's trajectory for the years to come. To that end, I find that ensuring reading appropriately leveled books at home is incredibly important.

In the past, I have used Ziplock bags for storage, but they often rip or get lost.

Having a bright, sturdy bag for each student to use to transport books from school to home and back would help make sure they are each getting the reading practice they need every night.
