Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our high school anthropology program seeks materials to provide students, predominantly of African and Latino descent from high-poverty areas, with a transformative opportunity to explore forensic anthropology, archaeology, and human history. Partnering with the University at Albany, students will earn college credit while gaining hands-on experience with professional-grade materials like human skull models, cranium sets, and trauma fragment kits. These tools will foster critical thinking, scientific reasoning, and cultural understanding, equipping students with the skills and confidence needed to succeed in STEM and social sciences.

This program is a gateway to higher education and career opportunities for historically underrepresented students, blending rigorous academics with practical, real-world applications.

This grant will not only support our efforts to create a rigorous, college-level program but also ensure that students from historically marginalized backgrounds can access educational experiences that inspire confidence, curiosity, and ambition. With this funding, we aim to provide students with a solid foundation in anthropology, preparing them for academic success and career opportunities in STEM and the social sciences. We believe this program will leave a lasting impact on our students, their families, and the community by promoting equity and excellence in education.
