My Project

Humans are remarkable beings! From the way we move, to the way our hands know instinctively to move away from a hot surface, to our remarkable taste buds and wondrous eyes! There is so much to learn about how the human machine works! Ever wondered why there is an eerie glow reflecting back at you when you use flash photography on eyes? Or how our hearts pump and beat without us ever having to think about it? How can our brains store so many memories and why do we salivate when it's time for pizza in the cafeteria? These are the questions my students want to dive into as we study amazing anatomy!

Students want to know more about how the brain communicates with the body, our organs, and how our bones keep us standing tall!

These resources will give my students models of human anatomy (kid-friendly) and books that help us understand the wonders of how we live and breathe every day within our wonderful bodies! By comparing animal cells to plant cells, students will be able to see what mitochondria and cytoplasm look like in a single cell. They will be able to see how muscles move with an action hero style model, look at the skull and understand the importance of the mandible (the strongest bone in our faces). Why is the eyeball like a movie theater? Students will learn how with an eye model that they can see inside! Students will learn how the different parts of the brain work, and where all of the organs are located. We'll learn about movement, and how to take care of our heads, shoulders, knees and toes with these models! Please support this project. Thank you.
