My Students

My kindergarten class is bold, brave, and brilliant! They are constantly eager to learn new things and persistent through challenges. They are getting excited to start learning to read words. With the inconsistency of being in person and then going full remote, they unfortunately do not have all the materials they need abs I am hoping to help that with this project.

My Project

NYC schools are switching back and forth from full remote, to in person, to back to full remote, and this has created a lot of inconsistency for my kindergarteners. Despite that, they are eager and ready to learn every single day. We have been hosting reading meetings everyday, where we come together to read, and I am noticing they do not have enough books! Some kids are reading online, and some kids are reading the same books all the time.

These books would give me the chance to put books back in the hands of my young, emergent readers.

Learning to read is a challenge and I want them to have access to as many books, whether online or physical, as possible. They have been so flexible in using online platforms as reading platforms, but I do not want that to be their only option.
