Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a Title 1 K-5 in New York City. We are a small school and small schools mean small budgets.
Our students are Diverse, creative, and imaginative learners!
BodySox will provide Kindergarten through 5th graders opportunity to explore shapes and levels that the body creates as natural movements, and can benefit from the dance materials as tools to enhance their learning! My goal is to incorporate exploratory learning and cooperative group work to afford my students the best possible experience!
My Project
Students will use the BodySox to create and perform a dance by imitating body stretched, curled, angular, twisted shapes, and exploring spatial and energy elements of dance through personal and shared space while dancing with body socks!
Dance can be enhanced with the use of BodySox by incorporating the sensory and spatial elements of dance while students make organic and inorganic shapes.
Students dance individually and in groups to model.
The BodySox will provide endless hours of exploring spatial elements and making connections between geometry and dance. Students will then perform their dances using the BodySox for the entire school Community.
