My Project

The board games I’m requesting will directly support the development of social, communication, and cognitive skills in my students. Games increase verbal expression, improve language comprehension, and foster peer interaction. Games improve fine motor skills, taking turns, and color recognition in a fun, stress-free way. These games provide structured opportunities for students to engage with each other, which can be crucial for students with special needs who might otherwise struggle with social interactions.

The main goals for this project are:

• Fostering social interaction: Help students practice turn-taking, sharing, and communication through interactive gameplay.

• Enhancing cognitive skills: Support the development of critical thinking, problem-solving, and memory.

• Building confidence: Create positive experiences around socialization and learning, helping students feel more comfortable interacting with peers.

• Strengthening motor skills: For some students, these games will help improve their fine motor coordination through hands-on activities.

My students are special because each of them brings unique strengths and challenges. As students with special needs, they often require individualized approaches to learning and socializing. Many of them face difficulties with communication and social interaction, which is why structured, supportive environments—like playing board games—are crucial for their development. These games provide a safe, predictable setting where they can practice important life skills at their own pace, while also building relationships with their peers.
