This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have about 100 teens in my 10th grade classes at Bladensburg High School, and many of them are experiencing a lot of stress at the moment due to new immigration policies in the US. We have a class advisory period every other week where the students can pick an activity to unwind. I have chosen a game club, but I still need more interesting games for my students to play. Help Teens De-Stress and Connect Through Board Games!

Teen stress and anxiety are at an all-time high, with school pressure, social challenges, and the fast-paced digital world taking a toll on their mental well-being.

Our Board Games Club for Teens offers a much-needed escape—a place where they can unplug, laugh, strategize, and build real connections.

Why Board Games?

Board games do more than entertain. They encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and creativity—all while giving teens a fun and social way to de-stress. Studies show that playing games helps reduce anxiety and fosters positive interactions, which is exactly what our club provides. It’s a safe, welcoming space where every roll of the dice or strategic move brings a break from everyday worries.
