This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students in my classroom come from a high poverty neighborhood. They often times come to school hungry, tired, and emotionally exhausted. More often than not, their parents struggle to purchase supplies that we need for our learning experiences.
Our school is the first in the metro area to provide a free pre-kindergarten program to all children in the district.
Our district prides itself on hiring and maintaining highly qualified teachers to educate our pre-kindergarten students. We have high hopes that providing a quality educational foundation will pay off profoundly in the future of each student.
My Project
Preschool age children love to read and re-read books. Board books are designed to withstand the daily usage from little people.
Giving students access to durable books in the reading area is a great way to instill a love of reading with our youngest scholars.
These board books will allow students to read daily, and still be able to withstand the usage. The titles I have chosen are books that students enjoy and love to have read to them. I plan to place these books in our reading nook and allow students to use them daily during our center time.
