My Students

My 5th Harrisburg students are excited to make choices about what they read, where they read it, and how they respond to learning. These students are so happy to learn. They are excited for each new learning opportunity and freedom of choices that come with moving up in grades.

5th-grade students are full of movement. They are able to move as the lesson allows them to work with different students in the room as well as get help from the teacher. Some students love to learn just hanging out at coffee tables, where others love to work perched on a stool at a tall table. What great choices to have.

My Project

The goal is to give students as many options as possible during the school day. These seating options will be a hit with students that love that special feeling of sitting tall in the room. This is the third year that I have given the student seating choices. The lower-cost options are just not standing up to the sitting habits of 5th graders.

Students are active sitters.

Even when they don't mean to, students shift and wiggle in the chairs. What can be found at yard sales are not the heavy-duty seating options that are needed in the classroom. These 10 and 11-year-olds love that they are the big cheeses in the building.
