My Students

"Look what I built!" My students, bright eyed, and willing to try anything, LOVE to use their hands and imaginations to work in our classroom. My sweet students come from diverse backgrounds and bring a large array of experiences to our room. One thing they all have in common is using their imaginations and creating a happy world within our walls.

Daily, my students overcome a variety of basic challenges - getting breakfast, making it to school, having homework completed.

Our school is a Title 1 urban school with the most diverse population in our district, serving over 80% free/reduce lunch. School becomes a safe haven for these scholars - where expectations are the same every day, and their basic needs are met. While they come to school to learn, they thrive when they are given the opportunities to explore, create, and use their imaginations. This is what keeps them coming back and keeps them hooked into learning the rigorous academic standards.

My Project

My students need the K-1 STEM Bundle, Design and Build Engineering Center, Block Play STEM Early Learning Kit, Magna-Tiles Master Set, and a manipulative library to enhance their creativity and connect their imaginations to academic discoveries. These materials will allow my students the ability to let their imaginations and creativity run wild! An allotted block of time will be given each day to allow students to explore, try out hypothesis, reconstruct, and discover basic science principles.

Your generous donation to this project will give my students an opportunity to use tools and supplies that they may never have a chance to use otherwise.

Because my students come from low income families, they often don't have these kind of materials in their own homes that allow them to make these great discoveries. Plus, making these discoveries in the classroom will help to build on their academic journey and create a classroom environment that fosters learning by making mistakes and trying again.
